Ciel Bretagne and EESAB, the European Academy of Art in Brittany, two schools recognized internationally, propose a unique program who will facilitate integration in higher education of art and design.

2 weeks holidays for Christmas  + 1 week for winter holidays (February/March)

30 ECTS CREDITS (subject to attendance and assessments results)

>Module 1 “General French course” to acquire level B2, or level B1 the minimum required to enter the EESAB courses
>Module 2 “Specialized French course ” to master the specialized vocabulary in French, in particular the one used in Graduate schools of Art & Design
>Module 3 “Preparation for competitive examination” to upgrade the technical skills and theoretical knowledge required to pass the entrance exams of the Graduate schools of Art and Design in France

Module 1 (500 lessons) : General French course

Organization
Course held at Ciel Bretagne
500 lessons class over  23 weeks.
Course in international and in closed group.

Program
Comprehension and written expression.
Comprehension and oral expression – Corrective phonetics.
Vocabulary – Grammar and syntax structure.
French daily life civilisation.
Methodology of written and oral expression.Progression – Evaluations – Monitoring
Daily homework.
Personalized progression.
Regular tests to evaluate the acquired knowledge and skills.
Monthly interviews with the Head of Studies.
Final individual report (marks, teachers’ comments & attendance rate).
Access to the resource centre.

Module 2 (30h)  : Specialized French course

Organization
Course held at Ciel Bretagne
Course in closed group, 7 students minimum/15 maximum.
30 hours class over 8 weeks.

Program
Comprehension and use of expressions specific to French Higher Studies in Art.
Comprehension and practice of the vocabulary of art and design used in France.
Examples of use in different contexts (academic, professional…)
Key concepts in the history of art and design in Europe to understand concepts and words used.

Progression – Evaluations – Monitoring
Daily homework.
Personalized progression.
Mid-term test and final test at the end of the session (evaluation of acquired knowledge).
Individual progress reports with the responsible Teacher.
Final course report (marks, teachers’ comments & attendance rate)
Access to the library, the computer rooms, the loan shop (tools and multimedia) of the EESAB Brest and exhibitions and conferences organized by the school.

Module 3 (64h)  : Preparation course for competitive examination (Theory & practice)

Organization
Course held at EESAB-Brest
Course in closed group, 7 students minimum/15 maximum.
64 hours class over 6 weeks.

4 blocs of 16 hours :
Plastic Arts: experimenting with different techniques and different mediums ;examples of exercises given to the students of the EESAB-Brest site ; collective hanging of works.
Design: the main types of design, the design methodology, practical exercises…
Materials and techniques:the categories of materials, their uses: examples and exercises.
Preparation for competitive examination of Schools of Art & Design: artistic higher education in France, expectations of the schools, how to prepare one’s interview with juries…

Program
Notions of history and theory of arts and design for an understanding of the reality and issues of art and design today.
Practical exercises, like those offered in the first year of French art and design schools ; plastic experimentations.
Hanging, Wall hanging (how to present one’s work in an exhibition space).

Progression – Evaluations – Monitoring
Group and individual monitoring by the Teacher of each block.
Mid-term test and final test at the end of the session (evaluation of acquired knowledge and techniques).
Evaluation based on the understanding of instructions, of the formal answers given to them, the evolution of practices during the 16 hours and the final restitution.
Individual progress reports with the responsible Teacher.
Individual report at the end of each block à l’issue de chaque bloc (marks, teachers’ comments & attendance rate).
Access to the library, the computer rooms, the loan shop (tools and multimedia) of the EESAB Brest and exhibitions and conferences organized by the school.
