Our general French courses for everyone
The general French courses at CIEL Bretagne are made for people who wish to:
- Develop the 4 communication skills (oral comprehension and expression, and written comprehension and expression),
- Enrich their vocabulary
- Improve their pronunciation
- Master the language structure
- Widen their knowledge of French daily life.
Whatever your level of French, your profile and your objectives, we have a course that will meet your needs.
A course certificate is awarded on completion of all our courses, subject to regular attendance.

All our courses can be combined into packages
Our intensive courses for beginners (20 hours/week)
Sessions are open on specific dates.
Courses take place over 7 half-days (5 mornings + 2 afternoons).
Maximum of 5 students per class
Progression based on a textbook, provided at the start of the course
Our standard French courses (16 hours/week) are available all year round except for a two-week closure during the Christmas holidays.
These courses are open to all students with a minimum level of A2.
Students are placed in groups according to their level (determined by a test before their arrival).
The courses are based on the school’s internal curriculum, developed from the CEFR, and follow an action-oriented and communicative approach.
Maximum 10 students per class.
Courses are held in the morning, Monday to Friday.

Our linguistic and cultural workshops (4 hours/week) are open all year round except for the two weeks of the Christmas holidays.
The programme is set one month in advance based on current cultural events.
The objectives of these workshops are to:
- develop written and oral communication skills
- enrich vocabulary on new and original topics
- create human connections between students
Two sessions per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Maximum of 15 students per class
Our private lessons in general French OR specialised French
- in formulas or as individual lessons, to work on the skills, topics and objectives that you define yourself using a needs analysis questionnary that we send you before the start of the course.

Guided independent study (free of charge)
Every Wednesday, for 1.5 hours, a teacher is available to help you progress independently. They can suggest additional exercises to do, recommend websites and reinforcement activities, or assist you with your learning and homework.
ECTS CREDITS
Thanks to the attachment of the Department of French as a Foreign Language of Ciel Bretagne to the EMBA (Management School of Bretagne Atlantique), institution of Higher Education of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Finistere, some of our courses will allow you to obtain credits ECTS.
The courses granting ECTS credits are as follow:
# French and sciences and technologies of the sea (3 to 6 ECTS, depending on the session)
# Intensive course (minimum 4 weeks): 4 ECTS/month
# Semester course – 24 weeks of intensive classes: 20 ECTS
ECTS credits are subject to attendance (mandatory) and assessments results.
