Instructors at CIEL Bretagne language school use modern and elaborated
educational methods combining communication techniques,
concrete tasks and group pragmatics (proactive method)
Class levels and objetives are based on
the
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
(CEFR), which comprises reading, writing, speaking and
comprehension skills.
An assesment test of your level in French allows us to place you
in the class of your level on Day One. We recommend you send us
the test before your arrival at CIEL (please take the test
without a dictionary or help of any kind in order to have the most adequate
placement possible).
Class schedule : Classes start every Monday except for beginner level which starts on the following dates : February 12th, March 2nd and 30th, June 1st and 29th, August 3rd, September 14th 2010.
For general courses, we use the ALTER-EGO handbook for our proactive methods.
For specialized courses, we either use specialized FOS (Francais
sur Objectif Spécifique)
manuals or authentic documents and written press, audio or
video.
Handbooks used are also accessible free of charge for students
at the school library (newspapers, journals, books, magasines,
manuals, CD-ROM, CD, DVD etc…)
Significant technical equipments are also available for
instructors and students such as the multimedia lab, where
students can interact on CD-ROM and online group projects. Three
computer labs allow to use various medias (power-point, CD-ROM,
Internet, etc…).
CIEL is France’s only French as a foreign language school using
Tomatis method for long term stay students. Classes are
in labs under “electronic ear”, a piece of equipment that gives
the opportunity to students to quickly get used to rythms and
modulations of the French language while listening classical
music, Gregorian singing and repeating classic texts such as
“Le Petit Prince” and “La Mouette Jonathan Livingston.
