Why should you pass the DELF or DALF?
The only qualifications recognized by the French Ministry of Education, the
DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française (French language studies diploma)) and the DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française (Advanced French language studies diploma)).
Valid for life and throughout the world, they vouch for your level of written French within the context of your work or studies. Each diploma assesses your level in the four following skills: oral skills and comprehension, written skills and comprehension.
DELF and DALF levels These are directly linked to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)
DELF A1 and A2 (elementary user) develop the first notions of French. They correspond to the survival level for communication in simple situations in daily life.
The DELF
B1 and B2 (independent user) validates sufficient oral and written skills in French to communicate effectively on varied subjects.
The DALF C1 and C2 (experienced user) vouch for easy and spontaneous communication, as well as a high level of proficiency in the French language, particularly on specific subjects chosen by the candidate himself. This is the level required to enter a French University, and it eliminates the need to do any other language test.
